After another untimely hiatus I am back and better than ever, babes!
I wanted to share some things that I became absolutely hooked on this past month... ready??
First off, I am in LOVE with Glossier's Phase 2 Set. I don't wear too much makeup, but their sets allow you to focus on the having the basics covered when you want to just be fresh-faced chic. I bought the Generation G matte lip in Crush, the Stretch Concealer in Dark, and Boy Brow in black, and I cannot stress how amazed I was at the quality of each product. The lippie is perfect for going on errand runs or having dinner, but since it's matte you want to make sure your lips are exfoliated and well-hydrated prior to using Generation G. I have dark circles under my eyes 24/7, but the Stretch Concealer has worked wonders on hiding those awful little bags; it's lightweight, does not look cakey at all, and blends perfectly with my liquid foundation. Finally, though I don't mess with my eyebrows other than getting them threaded, Boy Brow has been so easy to use in order to thicken, fill in and keep them groomed on days when they just have a mind of their own (AKA, always). I will definitely be checking back and seeing what other treasures from Glossier that I can get my hands on.
I caved and splurged again on a lip kit by Kylie Cosmetics. I already own Dolce K (the best deep, beige nude ever!), but I just had to try out Mary Jo K--which is truly the perfect red.
I was SUPER lucky to have found some precious Vince Camuto 'Sandria' sandals at Marshall's for half the original price, but you can find them at Nordstrom here. They are definitely my favorite summer heel!
I desperately needed new running shoes, and since my go-to is always Nike, I bought these Nike Flex 2016 Run--in black and white, as usual. Since they're a bit more straight on the side, it took a few days to break them in, but overall they're great training shoes.
Recently I ventured into the men's section at Target in search for a new night shirt, because we have to be honest here: men's clothing is sooo much more comfortable, looser, and generally made better than women's clothing. (Plus, it's always such a cute feeling wearing your guy's clothes!) I found an awesome Game of Thrones t-shirt that I love wearing to bed and got in XL but is no longer available in that size; however, I found this dope Hogwarts men's t-shirt in XL for fellow Harry Potter lovers and this Little Mermaid one that I adore. Since mine shrunk a little in the dryer, I might opt for an XXL next time so that it always fits loose and comfy.
Fashion and digital entrepreneurs Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr combined their intelligent, savvy, lovely minds to give women this integral book called The Career Code, and I have not been able to put it down. It's full of essential tips and information that every self-sufficient and professional woman should know (resume Do's and Don'ts, how to network the right way, etc), no matter your field or career. Definitely check it out if you've been looking for mentor-worthy info or if you need some extra guidance in launching your career!
My soul craves poetry, and this special little book of love and healing has nourished me in countless ways recently. I implore you all to read Milk and Honey by the exquisite Rupi Kaur, especially if you're going through a particularly rough time in life or love. Trust me!
And for those wondering: I nailed a recent job interview and will now join the CPS staff! Very excited for my newest endeavors and upcoming adventures at a nearby public high school teaching Spanish once again!
Also, I was very fortunate to have volunteered at the R U The Whole Package modeling contest this past Thursday at VenueOne. Hosted by the co-founder of Latino Fashion Week, Arabel Rosales, models from the Chicagoland area were invited to compete and win some awesome prizes. I had so much fun helping out, getting to know the event coordinators and volunteers, and meeting some truly fascinating people. LFW is having another event next week, called Global Runway, so if you love fashion and you're in the neighborhood, be sure to snag a ticket online and stop by!
